Welcome to Artfest Nanaimo 2008

Mark your calenders and spread the word! Saturday and Sunday, August 16th and 17th, the Fifth Annual Artfest - Nanaimo's Originals Only fine art show and sale takes place at Pioneer Waterfront Plaza, by the bastion, overlooking beautiful Nanaimo Harbour.

This is a premier art event in the city, featuring some of the island's finest painters, sculptors and print makers, all presenting their original works of art for your enjoyment, and for sale.

Just like last year, Artfest and the Summertime Blues Festival which will be in the Harbourfront Plaza, are working together to make downtown come alive with art and music.

Call to Artists

Our first meeting is Tuesday, May 27th at 6:30 pm at the Nanaimo Art Gallery Downtown at 150 Commercial Street.

If you get lost or have some questions call the gallery at (250) 740-6350.

All artists who are interested in being at the Artfest event this year should make every effort to attend or find someone to attend on your behalf. Your participation is vital!
This years Artfest promises to be as spectacular as last years. There are still spots available. If you would like to participate you can contact the Nanaimo Art Gallery for an application form.

We also hope to have the pdf. version available soon on the blog.

Another Artfest comes to a close!

Thank you to all the participants and visitors to the 2007 Artfest. This year has been quite the success... despite the rain!

This summer has proven to be a bit more of a trial for all outdoor events not just the Artfest. But considering the weather everything else went off with out a hitch.

We are planning to have a summery meeting to tie up lose ends and to evaluate where improvements can be made. We will let everyone know when that will be as soon as we know ourselves!

Thanks again to everyone including our volunteers, sponsors, the customers, the artists and especially the Nanaimo Art Gallery which continues to go over and above to make this event happen.

See you all next year for an even bigger and better Artfest 2008!
(and hopefully drier!)
